Indoor Newborn Baby Photo Shoot Glasgow

It's so important on my Newborn Baby Photo Shoots that my clients are comfortable and feel at ease. I find photo session at home do just that. My style of photography involves very little posing, I prefer to capture the family as they are. Being at home also has added benefits: unlimited outfit changes (if needed), time for snacks/feeding or snuggles and a familiar environment for older siblings, with their own toys to hand. A more structured studio environment may not always suit toddlers/young children.

A no stress Newborn Baby Photo Shoot

My shoots are very much baby led and I will always do what suits your baby best. Some of the best sessions have been where we have documented the whole process of getting ready; from feeding, bathing and dressing the baby, before moving on to some more formal family portraits. This works particularly well when there are siblings to help out, this can create some lovely images and memories. I also find it helpful if there are older siblings, to let them think they are running the show. We can follow them round the house whilst looking for opportunities for more great photos.

When is the best time to have a Newborn Baby Photo Shoot?

This is one of my most frequently asked questions, especially when people find they are outside the 2 week window that many studio photographers require for newborn shoots. For me anything up to about 13 weeks is newborn time but there are no hard and fast rules. In fact a couple of years ago I did a newborn session with a nearly 6 month old and the images from that shoot are still some of my favourites.

Why mum and dad should be in the photos

Often mums and/or dads say they don't want to be in the pictures and that is totally fine but I do like to suggest that they appear in a few. Everyone is always so happy with the results and glad that I encouraged them to take part. How many times as parents do we actually end up in our family photos? not very often!

Even though most of my work is not overly posed we can still create striking images like these. These pictures were not shot in a studio but in the family living room with a simple flash set up and a little bit of Photoshop.
